FAQ & Care Instructions

Do you do custom work?

Absolutely! Feel free to email us with details about your project.

What is Jesmonite?

Jesmonite is a British brand of acrylic reinforced gypsum. The material is commonly referred to as "eco-resin," because it is water-based and does not contain volatile organic compounds. We like to describe it as similar to a concrete-resin hybrid. Jesmonite feels similar to stone or unglazed ceramic, with a plastic-like strength and smoothness.

What is resin?

Resin, also known as epoxy, is a form of plastic. After two liquid components are mixed together, a chemical reaction occurs, and the material permanently hardens.

How do you preserve flowers?

Our flowers are dried in-house, using silica sand. The flowers are gently buried in the sand, which absorbs their moisture over several days. This process allows the flowers to keep their shape and colour, as they aren't pressed or exposed to air while drying.

Are your products heat safe?

Jesmonite is fully heat safe and fire resistant. You may place piping hot drinks on it, and extinguish cigarettes on it. However, it must not be microwaved or placed in the oven.

Resin will tolerate the heat of a warm drink, but should not be used with cups containing freshly boiled water. We don't recommend extinguishing cigarettes on resin, but flicking ash onto it is perfectly safe. Never microwave resin.

Are your products water resistant?

Clear resin products without a felt backing are completely waterproof, but should never be placed in the dishwasher.

Resin with a felt backing is water resistant on the top, but quite delicate on the bottom. We recommend against placing it on surfaces where it will be in frequent contact with water.

Jesmonite is water resistant and tolerates wet surfaces, such as bathroom counters, well. While we don't recommend keeping it submerged for extended periods of time, regularly allowing the product to become wet is perfectly fine, as long as it's given the chance to dry out each time.

Are your products food safe?

Clear resin products without a felt backing are food safe. All other products may be used to hold packaged snacks or unpeeled fruit, but should not be eaten off of directly.

How do I clean your products?

Clear resin without a felt backing may be washed by hand, similar to any dish. All other products should be spot cleaned with a damp cloth / paper towel and dish soap, to avoid detaching the adhesive on the felt / cork backing.

To remove wax from our candle holders, wipe with a cloth or paper towel dipped in very hot water. Use dish soap if needed. For large drips or stubborn residue, place in the freezer for 15 minutes, then very gently scrape off with the blunt side of a butter knife.

Will the flowers rot or fade?

The flowers in our resin pieces are doubly secured from rotting. Because they were dried before casting, they're completely moisture free. Additionally, there is no oxygen inside resin, meaning bacteria cannot survive.

Because resin acts as a sealant, the flowers inside are essentially frozen in time, and they don't fade the way dried flowers kept in a vase do.

Will resin discolour or yellow?

We use high quality resin with added UV protectants, which will help maintain the clarity of our products for many years. For added protection, we recommend storing resin away from harsh, direct sunlight, and spots such as windowsills.

You may have come across vintage resin pieces from the 1960s-80s, in various states of yellowing. While we anticipate that modern resin will avoid this fate, we can't be sure exactly how it will look in decades to come. We do, however, sincerely hope that you'll continue to treasure our products for long enough to find out.

How do I dispose of your products?

Unfortunately, neither Jesmonite nor resin are recyclable. Both materials are highly durable, and designed for longevity. We strongly recommend giving no longer wanted Wolf Peach products to loved ones, or donating them to a local thrift shop. Should you need to dispose of a product entirely, it must be placed with landfill-bound waste.
